Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cake flour and baking powder.
- In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about three minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract afterward.
- Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients by alternating with milk until just mixed.
- Divide batter into three bowls; leave one plain and tint the other two shades of purple.
- Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cakes cool completely before frosting between layers with purple buttercream.
