Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- Oil for frying (neutral oil)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Stir until melted and simmer gently. Remove from heat once boiling.
- Add Flour: Quickly stir in all-purpose flour until fully incorporated; the mixture should form a ball that pulls away from the pan.
- Mix in Eggs: Allow the dough to cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time. Mix thoroughly after each addition until smooth and glossy.
- Heat Oil: In a deep skillet or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe the Churros: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe long strips directly into hot oil, cutting them off with scissors as needed.
- Fry Until Golden: Fry churros for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove using tongs and drain on paper towels.
