- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup caramelized onions (about 2 medium onions)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheese (sharp cheddar and mozzarella blend)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and cook sliced onions until golden brown (about 20 minutes).
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, garlic powder, thyme, half of the caramelized onions (reserve the rest), salt, and pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to the loaf pan and shape it into a neat loaf.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- In the last five minutes of baking, top with shredded cheese and remaining caramelized onions until melted.
