- 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup mixed chopped nuts (pistachios and walnuts)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup rosewater
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with melted butter.
- Layer eight sheets of phyllo in the dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix the chopped nuts with half of the sugar, then spread evenly over the phyllo layers.
- Add six more layers of phyllo, brushing each with butter and sprinkling the remaining nut mixture halfway through.
- Finish with eight more layers of phyllo on top, cutting diamond shapes into the surface.
- Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, combine water, remaining sugar, honey, and rosewater in a saucepan; bring to a boil and simmer until slightly thickened.
- Pour the hot syrup over the baklava as soon as it comes out of the oven. Allow to absorb before serving.
