- 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1 can (14 oz) canned cherries in syrup
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, and water until smooth. Divide batter between the pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool for 10 minutes in pans before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Drain cherries, reserving some syrup. Whip the cream until soft peaks form.
- Slice each cooled cake horizontally into four layers. Soak each layer with cherry syrup, then spread whipped cream and add cherries on top, stacking as you go.
- Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least four hours or overnight before serving.
