Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened at room temperature (1 brick)
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 0.25 cup light brown sugar packed for caramel depth
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup thick salted caramel sauce warmed slightly for easy spreading (or dulce de leche)
  • 0.5 cup English toffee bits such as Heath bits
  • 0.33 cup roasted pecans finely chopped
  • 0.25 tsp flaky sea salt Maldon salt for balance
  • 4 large crisp apples Granny Smith and Honeycrisp, sliced into wedges
  • 1 cup pretzel crisps or graham crackers for salty-sweet dipping

Method

  1. Whip the Cream Cheese Base: In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, and pure vanilla extract using a hand mixer on medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes until completely smooth, light, and fluffy with zero lumps.
  2. Spread the Base: Using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon, spread the whipped cream cheese mixture in an even layer across the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish, shallow serving bowl, or decorative platter.
  3. Layer the Warm Caramel: Warm your thick caramel sauce in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds just until pourable (warm to the touch, not boiling hot). Pour the caramel evenly over the cream cheese layer, gently smoothing it toward the edges.
  4. Garnish with Crunch: Scatter the crunchy English toffee bits and finely chopped roasted pecans generously across the entire caramel surface. Finish with a delicate pinch of flaky sea salt to amplify the caramel flavor.
  5. Slice & Serve: Core and slice crisp apples into wedges (brushing slices with a splash of lemon water to prevent browning). Arrange the fresh apple wedges, salty pretzel crisps, and graham crackers around the platter and serve immediately!
