Ukrainian Garlic Bread (Pampushky)

A traditional Ukrainian bread infused with garlic and often served with borscht.

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup water warm
  • 1 packet yeast active dry
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil vegetable or olive
Garlic Topping
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon parsley chopped

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and oil to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Bake the Pampushky
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Mix melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley. Brush the mixture over the dough balls.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
