- Soak the onion in cold water for at least 30 minutes to help it bloom.
Batter and Frying
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create the batter.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Dip the bloomed onion in the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Carefully place the battered onion in the hot oil and fry for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
