Ingredients

  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups (12 oz) high-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (6 oz) milk chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt (essential to balance richness)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows (for serving)
  • 1 cup fresh whipped cream and shaved chocolate curls (for garnish)

Method

  1. Add whole milk, heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, sifted cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and sea salt directly into the bowl of a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Whisk thoroughly to distribute cocoa powder and break up any chocolate clumps.
  3. Cover with lid and cook on LOW for 2 hours, whisking every 30 to 45 minutes to ensure chocolate melts smoothly from the bottom without scorching.
  4. Once all chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is glossy, steaming, and silky smooth, switch the slow cooker to WARM setting for party serving.
  5. Ladle into heat-safe ceramic mugs. Crown generously with towering homemade whipped cream, mini marshmallows, chocolate shavings, and serve warm!
