  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes sliced
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves whole
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Method
 

Assembling the Salad
  1. On a serving platter, alternate layers of sliced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.
  2. Tuck fresh basil leaves between the layers.
  3. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, if using.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
