Apple Tart

A delicious and classic dessert made with fresh apples and a flaky crust.

Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cold water as needed
Filling
  • 3 cups sliced apples peeled and cored
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter for dotting

Method
 

Prepare the crust
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
Prepare the filling
  1. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
Assemble and bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out the dough and fit it into a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter. Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden.
